First Thing's First... Who am I???
ft. everything current in my life and some more about me... technically not the first edition so considers this an extended bio :)
OMG
If you’re on this page right now it means you’ve decided to join me (and hopefully others) on my journey! Welcome, welcome.
Baseline stuff about me… (prepare yourself for a fuck ton of infodumping!)
I freakin’ love cats, plants, and anything coffee, tea, or food related. I love to take photos (I’d say I’m pretty good at it too…) and share random thoughts I have in middle-most of the night. Random thoughts live purely rent free in my head, along with vines from 2016. I absolutely love to use the word ‘also’, and my writing gets SUPER rambly. I love sharing my thoughts on what’s happening in the world, especially the icky-sticky stuff. I swear like a fuckin’ sailor. I will be sharing my own experiences on sensitive content that may seem a bit TMI or a bit much, but I’ll always have trigger warnings beforehand. I love to argue, especially if I am able to for reals back up my claims. I am autistic, depressed, hyperactive, on Adderall, in college, socially awkward as well as queer (as fuuuuckkk), and hilarious. To most people. My whole vibe is grandma-core with a twinge of 70s and a few dashes of unhinged. I’m super short, kinda chubs, and only somewhat aggressive. I’m ‘hip with it’ but have no clue how to use Tik Tak, I rock at procrastinating (one of my ‘soft-skills’, in fact) and love to use words that only exist in text form. Oh yeah, also love emoticons :3
I consider myself a connoisseur of the media: TV shows, movies, music. However, I don’t usually follow much in terms of awards shows like the AMAs, Oscars, Grammys, or much else. I love the Olympics, especially the Special Olympics. My favorite events for the winter are ski jumping, figure skating, luge, and snowboarding (specifically the half-pipe event). For summer they’re archery, badminton, diving, gymnastics, swimming, water polo, and weightlifting. I used to swim on the swim team and work at our local pool as a lifeguard. I also used to play the viola and I love anything and everything classical music and jazz. Through fourth grade until freshman year, I played in the orchestra as well as our jazz band (which I made a jazz ORCHESTRA because of me playing viola. I was also on the front page of our local newspaper twice!). I love to sing and talk to myself along with occasionally painting. Now, I primarily make jewelry and write and bake, which have all been the highlights of the dreary winter Oregon has been having.
My birthday is July 4, no I’m not joking. I’ll be 18 in exactly three months and six hours from now! I can’t wait!!!!!! I’m a cancer, though I don’t know entirely what that means. I’ve never been to into astrology. Astronomy on the other hand, that shit is my shit. Learning about constellations, the new exoplanets being discovered, different updates on Mars and the surface of the sun. SO cool.
I have two cats, one very fluffy void who’s named Teacup Charles, the other has short hair and is gray and stripey who’s named Lego the Chicken Chomper. Each of them a are such weird, unique, separate characters, I’m sure I’ll be writing about them sometime in the near future. I also work at the animal shelter in my town. I primarily work with the cats, rather, in the catteries as well as now the exam room. I help out really wherever needed. For every cat who comes in and then eventually back out, I consider them all my cats as well. Stories and photos from there will also be coming soon.
I live with chronic pain, which gets pretty bad sometimes, insomnia (specifically ‘middle-most-of-the-night insomnia which I poked fun at before… I can usually go to sleep in a decent amount of time, but if I wake up, sleep is but a fleeting dream), I am self-diagnosed with autism (getting diagnosed is SO GODDAMN hard for NO reason, and the diagnoses is based off of research, many many years of internalized-ableism, and the agreement of my PCP), I’m also medically diagnosed with depression, anxiety and ADHD, as well as ‘obesity’ (which I’m most certainly not according to my health and hygiene habits, further proving how dysfunctional the BMI system is), I am queer AF (non-binary *they, them pronouns* and pansexual), and by heart, a good ol’ fashioned weirdo.
My taste in music, TV, and style are just about as confused as I am about many things, and it doesn’t help that usually I’m just a flat-broke college student living at home still. However, I’d say I’m pretty cool and if you are too (which I hope you are) then be sure to subscribe to my newsletter to get updates! Also don’t be shy to use that ‘share’ button very liberally to share to you friends, your partner, your parents, your teachers, or even someone you just randomly pass on the street.
Future editions will be LOTS more structured and will hopefully keep you all interested!
Another self-promote really quick:
I am currently selling jewelry (and things) and will be posting what I currently have available at the bottom of each newsletter! Be sure to follow my Instagram @abucketofberries to see more of that as well as other random things happening in my life.
